Dear visitor,
Welcome to the website of the Specialisten Vereniging Gevaarlijke Stoffen1 .
The association has over 120 members, who all completed the two-year Dangerous Goods Specialist training at the Shipping and Transport College in Rotterdam. This has given them a thorough knowledge of (inter)national legislation such as the WVGS, ADR, RID, ADNR and ICAO/IATA. Also Fire Fighting, Chemistry and Safety are dealt with in this course.
Our members are employed in various industry and/or business sectors, governments and training bodies. By providing these training possibilities, their employers want to ensure that their management and staff have optimal knowledge and experience.
What exactly is meant by dangerous goods?
These are substances which by their nature can be dangerous for humans, animals and their environment. This implies that worldwide strict requirements are set for the manufacture, transport and storage of dangerous goods, and this in turn is the logical result of increasing wealth and prosperity, knowledge and technology because of which dangerous goods are essential. For example, isocyanates are used in car seats, acrylic acid in diapers, and acrylates in the paint you use for painting your house etc, etc.
By sharing knowledge, insights and experiences, the SVGS aims at safer transport of dangerous goods in all modes of transport. In order to achieve that objective, the SGVS has some new features that can be found on our website.
On the new website you will regularly find an update of our activities, to keep you informed of the developments in our field. If you have any questions or comments, our board will be happy to deal with them
We would greatly appreciate to exchange views on the developments in our field.
We hope you will enjoy travelling through our website!
On behalf of the board,
Frank Croonenberg
SVGS Chairman
